About the Open Apparel Registry (OAR)

The Open Apparel Registry (OAR) is a free and open data tool mapping garment facilities worldwide and allocating a unique ID to each. The tool is used by stakeholders across the apparel sector to eliminate confusion and facilitate collaboration, enable interoperability across systems and tackle the long-standing industry problem of facility identification. We are built on the principles of "open": open data, open communications patterns, openness to ideas and new ways of working. The OAR is currently at an exciting period in its growth and development and will be hiring new team members throughout 2022. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to the future growth and vision for the tool and must be prepared to “get their hands dirty” with a wide variety of tasks, given the OAR’s start-up nature.

Job Description

In this varied role, the Stakeholder Engagement Associate supports the growing reach and influence of the Open Apparel Registry. Together with the Stakeholder Engagement team they are responsible for driving contributions to and use of the tool at an exciting phase in the organization’s development, as the original Open Apparel Registry platform expands to new sectors beyond apparel.

The Stakeholder Engagement Associate supports a rapidly growing stakeholder engagement team in providing users from around the world with the resources and information they need to contribute to and use the Open Apparel Registry and maintaining organized systems while doing so. This is an ideal role for someone in the early stages of their career, who is passionate about using technology for good, and wants to build and/or solidify their stakeholder engagement and digital marketing skillset. No two days in this position will look the same, so we’re looking for someone who will be energized by getting on a Zoom call and leading a demo, and then quickly pivoting into heads-down design or writing work.

This role is a remote, full-time (at 40 hours/week) employee. This person can be based in a number of European Countries*, or the UK. They must be available for at least four hours of the working day (9am - 6pm) in Central European Time.

The Ideal Candidate

This role is ideally suited to a early to mid-level professional, with 2 - 5 years working experience:

  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong communicator and presentation skills
  • Experience managing social media channels for a purpose-driven organization
  • Enjoys engaging with a diverse range of global stakeholders, building and strengthening relationships, understanding user needs and the nuances of stakeholder management
  • Confident in the use of Google Suite, Slack and video conferencing apps
  • Experience maintaining clean and organized records in CRM or content-management platforms
  • Methodical, with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Proactive, self-starter, team player
  • Committed to principles of “openness”: open data, open communications patterns, openness to ideas and new ways of working

As well as the essential skills above, the following skills would be highly valued:

  • Proficient in Excel or similar spreadsheet software
  • Scrappy graphic design experience, especially in Canva
  • Knowledge of/passion for open data, climate change solutions, human rights, and/or sustainable supply chains

Job Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement & Support:

  • Coordinates outreach campaigns to grow the size and reach of the OAR
  • Schedules and leads calls/demos with potential users and contributors
  • Maintains systems and records (in HubSpot) tracking the organization’s relationships with relevant stakeholder groups including civil society, facilities, brands and retailers, and multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Reports user feedback and product bugs discovered through stakeholder interactions to the Product team, and communicates results to users as feedback/issues are addressed
  • Spots trends and patterns in user feedback, to help the team prioritize technical development and new features
  • Provides proactive recommendations for developments that could improve a user’s OAR experience, including new ways to make the data accessible and useable
  • Reactively moderates data in the OAR when opportunities are flagged by users
  • Manages the organization’s email and social media inboxes, responding to user inquiries and directing them to relevant team members as needed

Communications and marketing

  • Supports with the drafting and building of content for newsletter mailings, social media, and other elements of communications and marketing strategy
  • Maintains a clean and organized library of stakeholder engagement and marketing assets in Canva
  • Copy-edits external-facing materials
  • Makes updates to the OAR info site, including the uploading of case studies, press mentions, resources, FAQs and more
  • Coordinates of translation of materials into key languages for OAR audiences
  • Supports In-Country Community Managers in the building of materials for regionally-focused marketing and outreach campaigns

Administration / coordination:

  • Provides logistics and scheduling support for stakeholder meetings
  • Completes monthly pulls of Stakeholder Engagement and Marketing KPIs from tools like Google Analytics and relevant marketing platforms, as well as potential ad hoc reporting requests
  • Updates team calendar and project management tool (Monday.com) with key Stakeholder Engagement activities and dates
  • Other discreet projects as required.

  • Budgeted annual salary range of 35,000 - 50,000 euros annually (or equivalent if outside the EU), highly dependent on country of employment and cost of living and commensurate with experience (we benchmark salaries using national averages and try to stay close to ensure equity for our global team)
