Certification Case Study: Fair Trade USA

"Being able to point current and prospective brand partners to facility profiles on an already widely accepted industry tool like the OAR gives us a single source of truth that we can use to find and share sourcing information for our certified factories."

Matching brands with certified facilities using the OAR

Fair Trade USA is working to encourage more small to midsize brands to source from Fair Trade Certified partners. In order to facilitate that match-making, they need sourcing information from those factories, which can easily fall out-of-date.

Fair Trade USA lists their applicant and certified facilities on the OAR and is encouraging their certified facilities to claim their OAR facility profiles and add additional sourcing data points, like facility type, production capabilities, lead times, and more.

As their facilities start to make use of the OAR’s “Claim a Facility” mechanism, the OAR can become a public, single source of truth that Fair Trade USA can use to match brands with certified facilities.
